When we bought the house in August 2002, it had been standing empty for some time and, as you can see from the photographs, was somewhat derelict. In keeping with tradition, the ground floor of the house had been used to keep animals whilst the humans lived upstairs.
Although the house was neglected and needed a lot of work, we knew the house was special.
A local architect, Sema Ridpath, worked with us to develop the plans and manage the project. It took about 15 months to be completed and then we had the task of furnishing our new home.
These pictures show some of the journey (click each image to see a bigger version).
